Through differing and intersecting views and with constant reference to the academic literature on religion in European prisons, the article highlights Catholics and Pentecostals positioning and how religion in prison designates a field in which power relations and processes of legitimation are constantly redefined and in competition. They generate dynamics of inclusion, exclusion and adaptation to the prison environment, and also innovative impulses produced by local-global fast-moving religious scenarios, settled in one of the most rigid and controversial institutions of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"resume\"><span lang=\"pt\" xml:lang=\"pt\">Com base na investiga\u00e7\u00e3o etnogr\u00e1fica numa pris\u00e3o feminina portuguesa, este artigo oferece uma primeira abordagem sobre um tema pouco discutido no meio acad\u00e9mico portugu\u00eas: a gest\u00e3o da religi\u00e3o, da liberdade e diversidade religiosas na institui\u00e7\u00e3o penitenci\u00e1ria. Atrav\u00e9s de vis\u00f5es diferentes e cruzadas e com uma refer\u00eancia constante \u00e0 literatura acad\u00e9mica sobre religi\u00e3o nas pris\u00f5es europeias, o artigo destaca o posicionamento de cat\u00f3licos e pentecostais e a forma como a religi\u00e3o na pris\u00e3o designa um campo em que as rela\u00e7\u00f5es de poder e os processos de legitima\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e3o constantemente a ser redefinidos e em competi\u00e7\u00e3o.
